Tech Summits vs Normal Industry Trade Shows (Why is tech more rock and roll?)

I am off on my first business trip with Disruptive Insight, to Dublin, this year’s hosts of Web Summit. Having grown in scale at an impressive rate year on year, Web Summit 2015 expects to welcome over 30,000 attendees from over 100 countries! This tech summit credits its success and unfaltering growth to the experience it offers attendees; Web Summit places a great deal of focus on the importance of engaging everyone from the smaller start-ups to the CEO’s of major multi-national corporations. It does so by not only offering countless workshops, talks and exhibitions but also by acknowledging that business hours are not confined to 9-5. Recognising the benefits that can be reaped and relationships that can be formed over a pint of Guinness is where Web Summit separates itself from the rest of the summit and trade show industry. Offering nightly bar crawls, live music and invaluable opportunities to network with the best in the business, WS provides a wholly immersive experience over the course of its 3 days.
It is this immersive offering that puts Web Summit on a platform above others of its kind, and why all of us at Disruptive Insight are so excited to be able to be a part of it, exhibiting our business model as part of the ALPHA programme. With tech summits pulling the younger demographic and igniting their passion for innovation it adds to the excitement with the expectation of some many enthusiastic, forward-thinking, young people sharing both their ideas and perspectives on everything ‘tech’.
With no personal experience of attending tech summits I am looking forward to diving in at the deep end and gaining as much from the opportunity as I can. T-shirts branded and lab coats at the ready, the doctors of digital are ready for Web Summit! With so many talks to listen to, workshops to partake in aside from exhibiting ourselves and finding time for a cool pint of Guinness, I’m sure Team DI will be kept plenty busy; but don’t worry we will keep you up-to-date with everything Web Summit over the next few days!
